Our Team

Brian Grundy

President

Brian has been a hands-on owner/manager of GTI since it's inception in 2007, with over 32 years experience in the broadcast engineering & tower industry in Canada and U.S.A.

  • Previously managed Great Lakes Integration, a broadcast services tower company for over  4 years;

  • Director of Broadcast Technical Services group at LeBlanc & Royle (later Radian) for 10 years;

  • RF Technician and Aerial Technician at LeBlanc  Royle for 8 years (over 18 years total experience at L&R);

  • Project managed the CTV NTSC to DTV transition in 2010-2011 with (12) transmission sites in total;

  • Fully versed in antenna test and measurement (sweep tests, trouble shooting, etc.);

  • Education: Electrical Engineering at Mohawk College in Hamilton, Ontario.

John Sluymer

Project Manager

John is a season broadcast industry professional with over 40 years in the broadcast engineering & tower industry in Canada and the U.S.A. 

  • Has commissioned high power (550kw) AM tower projects in Kuwait and other locations abroad;

  • Project managed DTV migration for various customers in Canada and the U.S.A. including site surveys, tower work, antenna systems and transmitter installations

  • Fully versed in antenna test and measurement (sweep tests, trouble shooting, etc.);

  • Director, Special Projects division & Manager, Broadcast Services division at LeBlanc & Royle (later Radian) for more than 20 years.

  • Education: Electrical Engineering at Waterloo University & Humber College in Toronto.

John McKay

Sales & Project Manager 

John has over 25 years experience in the broadcast engineering business with a focus on broadcast structures and antenna systems, as well as additional expertise in mobile (2-way) radio systems & tower site grounding (earthing) systems. 

  • 15 years as Broadcast Systems Sales Engineer & Sales Manager at LeBlanc & Royle, Radian Communications Services, and Prestige Telecom (Broadcast Divisions) responsible for Canada, U.S.A. and International;

  • 6 years as a tower structural design engineer at LeBlanc & Royle;

  • 5 years experience as a radio station engineer at several full power AM/FM stations in Toronto, Canada including CFRB/CKFM;

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with the Association of Professional Engineers Ontario (APEO);

  • Certified Broadcast Technologist (CBT) designation from the Society of Broadcast Engineers (SBE) in the USA; 

  • Education: Civil Engineering at University of Toronto.

Zia Haq CPA,CGA,FCCA

Financial Controller

Zia is a Chartered Professional Accountant with over 10 years of diversified experience in financial accounting, reporting, compliance and auditing in North American, Middle Eastern, and African Regions. 

  • Over 10 years of experience including controllership in North American environments and diversified auditing within a variety of industries such as insurance, hospitality, real estate, non for profit, manufacturing, retail and distribution, aviation and pharmaceutical.;

  • Successfully completed various projects including auditing engagements (with big 4 firms) as well as providing consultation to the industry clients for small and medium sized organizations regarding accounting department setup, establishing internal control environment, internal audit planning and implementation, and corporate taxation strategies;

  • This breadth of experience has allowed Zia to develop a thorough understanding of GAAS and multiple financial reporting frameworks including IFRS, ASPE, US GAAP, and NPO accounting and their implementation within the private and public sector;

  • Approved CPA mentor with the CPA Canada.
